About Dr. Karen
Dr. Karen Altekruse has spent her career developing people and organizations. First in retail sales and operations and then transferring those skills to business development, marketing, and public relations. After a successful exit from an entrepreneurial venture, Karen broadened her knowledge by completing an MBA with concentrations in Executive Coaching and Organizational Behavior followed by a PhD in Leadership Studies.
Karen is a leadership and organization development (OD) expert who has held senior leadership positions in nationally recognized healthcare, professional services, and academic organizations. In addition to providing OD interventions, she has designed and scaled leadership development, team building, change management, DEI&B, coaching, and succession planning programs. Karen has also redesigned and led the employee engagement, learning and development, onboarding, and performance management functions. Recognizing that not all businesses have the resources needed to design, develop, and deliver internal leadership and OD programs, Karen brings the knowledge, skills, and abilities to help small and midsized businesses succeed in attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent.
Prior to launching the Platinum Rule Leadership program, Karen piloted the concept by creating frontline and mid-level leadership development programs with a Wisconsin manufacturer. The success of the pilots helped identify the need and structure for the programs. Karen is now offering these and other programs to business and organizational leaders who understand the value of developing their people at all levels of the organization. While the fundamental elements of Leadership Development, coaching, and OD interventions remain the same, program content and interventions are customized to meet your specific needs. As a lifelong learner with a growth mindset, Karen works to stay up-to-date with changes in OD, HR and Change Management. In addition holding licensing agreements and/or certifications to deliver and debrief behavioral and 360 assessments, Karen is also a trained facilitator and/or has participated in a variety of content from organizations such as DDI, Franklin Covey, Gallup, Change Navigator, Crucial Conversations, and Situational Leadership, to name just a few.
